Two Raid 1 Arrays on H310 Controller
Looking for some help here...
I am getting ready to order a PowerEdge T320 server and I have selected the H310 raid controller in the configuration.
From the factory, I want them to install Windows Server 2012 on a 500GB Raid 1 array. Once I receive it, I want to install an additional (2) 2TB hard drives in a separate Raid 1 array.
So the first Raid 1 array would be (2) 500GB hard drives and the second Raid 1 array would be (2) 2TB hard drives.
Is this possible?

Yes, the H310 supports up to 32 physical and 16 virtual disks. The maximum configuration of the T320 supports up to 16 physical disks, so the H310 will be limited by the T320 backplane/cabled HDD configuration that you choose regarding the number of HDDs or virtual disks that you can configure.
If you are ordering the system with a backplane then make sure that you order an HDD kit that includes carriers with the HDDs that you plan to add after point of sale. We do not sell carriers by themselves, and we do not put extra carriers in the server. Any unpopulated slot on the backplane will have a HDD blank.
If you can manage to budget the ~$180 price difference between the H310 and H710 then I would advise purchasing an H710. There is a considerable performance difference between the H310 and H710. The H710P adds more write cache, so you will not see a performance difference between and H710 and H710P unless you have very long sustained writes. The controller would have to be highly utilized to use that much write cache.
