upgrade hard drive Raid 5
okay i got 4 drives on a Raid 5 setup on a power edge 2850. I'm trying to upgrade the drives to larger capacity ones. 76gb to 146gb
The os is on 2 seperate drives (so I don't need to worry about data) .
So I'm not concerned about the data lost on the raid 5 drives. Is the best beat to remove them all and have it rebuild it from the raid management bootup? ctrl+m
or is there a better way?

As it's not the boot drive, assuming you're running Windows or Linux, I'd recommend the following:
- back up the data on this raid 5
- shut down the server
- pull the 4 drives that are part of the raid 5 (and mark which came from which slot just in case you need to revert back)
- put in the 4 new drives
- boot the server into the OS
- use Dell OpenManage Server Administrator to configure the new raid set
- partition and format the disk in the OS
- restore your data

I've seen these instructions on many posts in this forum... :) I'm going to be going through this in the next week upgrading my current RAID 5 (3x36GB) to 3x146GB.
One question I do have with these instructions, all my "Data" for SBS2003 (Exchange, Sharepoint, Fax, etc.) are on my D: drive that I'll be upgrading. When I "boot the server into the OS", isn't it going to be barking mad about missing Exchange stores, SQL databases, etc.? Can I safely ignore these errors, get my RAID configured and re-imaged and then reboot where the OS hopefully won't notice anything different?

You may want to disable the services for Exchange, SQL, etc so that on boot, those services don't even try to start (and then complain they cannot find their data).
