Upgrading drives on a raid 1
I want to upgrade our 2 SSD drives that are currently in a raid 1 configuration.
The drives are currently 232.38GB each and I'd like to get something closer to 1tb of space.
Is the following possible:
- Can I put in a larger drive.
- Have it rebuild the array on the new drive.
- Put in the second new drive
- Have it rebuild the array on that drive.
- Then expand raid volume.
- Then resize the partition in windows?
Is this possible. And to make things more fun. This is on a production sql server.

Yes, the H710 can do this. You should already have OMSA installed ... you will use it to "reconfigure" the array to include the new space. Firmware must be up to date (iDRAC/LCC, BIOS first), and you cannot mix HDD and SSD, so your new disks must be SSD.

Lacking any real details on your configuration, I will say 'no'.
Not all controller support expansion in that way.
If you want an exact answer, will need to know the server model, controller model, and operating system.

It's a Dell poweredge r620 with a perc h710p mini embedded.
And the OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.
