Using RAID 5 with HOT SPARE, replace failed disk with no rebuilding
Dear All,
Happy Lunar New Year. I am new to Dell server. I found my R620 has failed disk and I replace with new one. In general practice, it would do rebuilding automatically. However, this time, nothing happen when I inserted new HDD and the status is "Ready". When I check the Virtual Disk, the new disk is not included in the HDD list. Any command I need to do to get the HDD "Online".
Raid : 5 with Hotspare
Virtual Disks are degraded.
But I found under the newly inserted HDD, there is an option "Assign Global Hot Spare". Should I execute this command? Or under Virtual Disk, there is another option "Replace Member Disk" to get back the new HDD online? Please help and thanks for your professional assistance in advance. Thanks.
Best regards,
Newbie Dell
