A raidkey is an enabler to turn on the raid capabilities of the onboard raid controller on certain servers.

It is plugged into the motherboard (has a specific slot for this) in combination with a dimm and battery usually. Once they are plugged in, you can go into the bios of the system and change the scsi controller to a raid controller (it will likely cause total dataloss on any drives connected).
