Dell Poweredge T40 Fan Error
Hello everyone,
I recently received a Dell PowerEdge t40 which I'm not happy with at all. This machine has no front fan and never did. There is nothing listed anywhere in any of the documentation that this server even has any option for a front fan. There is also no more fan header pins on the motherboard for anything called front fan!? After a BIOS update the system is saying front fan failure. The system fan and the CPU fan test fine but all of a sudden in the POST list there is now one more step added before boot, and that is check front fan! So now CPU fan check system fan check and front fan check even though I removed this server brand new from the box without a front fan. Is there a fix for this issue?!?! I have tried the following: Downgrading and upgrading the BIOS, cleared the CMOS, tried all different pin combinations and resetting the BIOS to defaults. Every single time I boot the server it gets stuck at the post menu saying alert previous fan failure and alert front fan failure. I have tried clearing the BIOS logs many times, this is a remote server and that needs to start without user intervention. I've never in my life seen a bio so limited it was an absolute nightmare to get an NVMe to work correctly on this bios every turn there's a roadblock with this thing. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

Hello,
thanks for contact us, please perform the following steps to resolve this issue:
- Press F1 and the system will continue to boot and there will be no negative effects to continue to operate the system
- Update BIOS to the latest version (at least 1.1.1) and Reset BIOS to factory default settings with the following steps:
- Restart the computer, and at the Dell logo screen tap F2 key.
- In the BIOS setup screen, click Restore settings.
- Select Factory settings and click Ok.
- Restart the system
Let me know if that works.
Thanks
Marco
