FAST versus OpenManage

Hello:

I'm in the process of bringing a neglected PEdge 4400 up-to-date. It's running Windows NT 4.0, SP6a.

I'm a little confused about the downloads that are available to me. So, my question is:

What are FAST and OpenManage?
Is one better than the other?
Does OpenManage replace FAST?

Thanks!
Greg

Dell Open Manage Array Manager is a GUI interface to manage your hardware arrays, much like FAST--it is just a little more up-to-date. FAST can only be used on Adaptec RAID Controllers, Array Manager can be used on Adaptec and AMI/LSI controllers.  The following is a link to downloads for the PE4400 running NT4.0

John:

Excellent, thanks!

I have a couple of follow-up questions; I hope you don't mind.

If some peice of hardware isn't listed in the Device List, does that mean that there are no updates for it? For example, I have Quantum Atlas V drives.

I've noticed that the link you sent lists two versions of OpenManage:

Under the Applications section, it says that this is the download:
Dell OpenManage Array Manager, v. 3.1.1.484.18, A00

But Under the Systems Management section, it says that this is the download:
Dell OpenManage Array Manager, v. 3.5.0.555.4, A02

It seems like I should get the latest version, but it's confusing to have two versions listed there.

Thanks,
Greg

Use the Array Manager version 3.5. If there are no updates for your hardware you should be OK.
