help installing vsphere 5.5 update2 on poweredge r720

Question

Hello everyone,

I have a poweredge r720 server running vsphere esxi 5.5 from sd card. the server came preinstalled with this image in sd card.

I do not have a vcenter server or an update manager installed.

Can anyone give me pointers on how to apple the updates 1 & 2 for this vsphere 5.5 in sd card ?

I can see only instructions on how to upgrade from 5.1 to 5.5 OR how to apply patches.

Is there anyway to apply this updates without a fresh installation ?

Shriramrs31,

VMware provides several ways to upgrade ESX/ESXi hosts. Without Update Mgr you would be limited to upgrading via;

ESXCLI

vSphere Auto Deploy

Scripted Upgrades

To upgrade interactively using an ESXi Installer ISO image on disk/usb
