Installing 32-bit Server 2003 R2 Std on 64-bits Powderedge R710

Hi,

As per the subject, I need to downgrade a new PowerEdge R710 64-bit Server 2008 to a 32-bit Server 2003 R2 Std version. So would be the right way of doing it?

So far, I've only tried booting up from the OEM disc of the Server 2003 but unable to install due to "No hard drives presently" error.

Could anyone advise any things? Thanks.

Cheer,

Irvin

Irvin,

Download and burn this ISO (BUU)  to disk - www.dell.com/.../poweredge-r710

Boot to that disk and it will load the drivers for the RAID controller and will assist you in the OS install.

Let me know how it goes.

In order to use any installation utility, you must have SP2 on your R2 media.  If you don't, then you will need to use nLiteOS.com to integrate SP2 into it, which will create a new CD.

Chris' link takes you to SBUU 6.5.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your advice on the BUU but during the installation, it prompt me for the OpenManage V6.5 disc which I don't not have as I'm given the V7.0 . Is there any link for me to download this, I searched in the Dell site but was returned many results which the description does not actually fits my need.

Also, at the OS install section, I saw Server 2003 R2 SP2 option but not Server 2003 R2, I'm holding on to the latter disc. Am I still able to proceed with the installation?

Thanks,

Irvin Chan
