OpenManage questions
I'm going to be ordering a PowerEdge server. I'm trying to figure out what all is involved in getting OpenManage. I read that the OpenManage IT Assistant CD-ROM ships with the server. And I understand that I would need to order the Remote Management Card in the server. But I am unclear what the OpenManage Subscription option is about when I'm configuring my server online. Do I have to subscribe in order to use OpenManage? What exactly is the deal?

You are correct that a Systems Management cd will ship with your server. It will contain Server Administrator (local server management tool), Array Manager, and IT Assistant which is a management station application to manage remote servers. The subscription service is a convenient process where you would sign up and receive updated versions of these products on a periodic basis. The updated versions are also available on http://support.dell.com, so the subscription service is optional.

Yes, the Open Manage software can be downloaded for free. Only the Dell Server Assistant CD cannot be downloaded. Details for the subscription service can be found at Dell software and peripherals. Search for subscription service.

So I can download for free what I would be getting if I paid for the subscription?
And am I correct that if I get the Remote Management Card installed in the server that I would have the capability to manage this server remotely (say from home)?
