Perc6i and Netware 6.5

I have a problem with a installation of Netware 6.5 on a new PE 1950 with perc6i.
I use the new perc6i NLM.

The OS is ok, but if a restart the server, then after dismouting volumes de screen is black and de led's on the harddisk are green and not blinking. After that the server is not responding.

I think it is the new perc6i driver!?

someone else with the same problem?

I have the same issue with a PowerEdge 2950 and Netware 6.5 SP5
Could be a country related issue because i'm from the Netherlands too ;-)

However, i still have the problem if i do not load the MEGA_SAS (PERC 6/i) driver.
This causes the volumes not to mount (which is normal).

So my guess is that it is a processor related issue.
I hope Dell or Novell comes with a fix for this dedicated issue....

Acording to DellSupport i had to downgrade the BIOS (2.0.1) to version 1.51.
This solved the problem.

Downgrade is only posible if jou had a server type I or II (1950 or 2950).
Not the new types III.

If jou do this with the new type, jou must replace the motherboard. :-)

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have this problem with all of our new 2950 III servers. If we cannot downgrade the bios without causing a problem (such as having to replace the motherboard) how can we resolve this issue? It is unacceptable to not be able to restart the server. This will have me driving all over town to restart servers instead of being able to handle it remotely.

Thanks

That is the issue. Novell released a patch for SP7 and SP8 will supposedly work when it is released, but for now I'm using the sp7 patch files on sp5 and its working just fine... for now.
