PowerEdge r720 problem

Hi everyone,

I have new poweredge r720 with 4x450 SAS hard drive. I created RAID-10 with initialization (PERC H710 mini). When i want to install the operating system (Ossim) the system tells me that the hard drive is not detected.

The same error appears when I try to install Red Hat 5.6 i686.

Does anyone know what is the reason??

Probably the same (reason).

You can try the downloadable RHEL drivers from Dell's support site and install with those.

Or you can virtualize your setup and install something like VMware's free ESXi (use the ISO available from Dell's support site as this has the NIC and PERC drivers built in (the VMware image may not have these drivers depending on which model NIC/PERC and which image build you get).

RHEL 5.6 probably doesn't have the driver for the H710 natively.

And what about Ossim version 4.1?

Hi,

I have a Dell PE R720. I am facing the same issue with CentOS 5.6 installation. I am new to linux environment.

Please elaborate the procedure to install this OS on the above machine.

Thanx
