Recommended Bootable NVMe Adapter for R730XD

I have a 24 bay R730XD server and I'd like to add a 2TB Samsung M.2 NVMe SSD.

I purchased an ACER Hyper M.2 PCIe 3.0 expansion card.

It seems to work fine when imaging Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (using RUFUS), but the image is not found during boot.

Does anyone have an NVMe adapter they can recommend and that they've used in a 730?  I'd like one with at least two NVMe slots, but I'd prefer 4 slots and I'll live with a single NVMe adapter if that's they one form factor anyone has been able to boot from.

Hi @mmoo9154,

Unfortunately the only PCIe M.2 SSD card from Dell would be BOSS-S1 card, but R730XD do not support that. Hence, I'm not able to recommend. For any other 3rd party card, we may need to wait any public users here to provide any feedback to recommend.

Mmoo9154,

Below are the 24 drive capable Poweredge servers that support the Boss-S1 card.

r740xd

Let me know if this helps.

I saw Dell-Joey C's reply.  That's disappointing and a little surprising.

Is there a USB3 to NVMe adapter that works with the R730DX?

Are there any other 24-bay PowerEdge models that work with the BOSS-S1 card or are known to work with a 3rd party PCIe M.2 SSD card?
