Failover Array Mode 3 - suggestions?
Current AIX 5.3 host running PowerPath 5.1 connecting to a Cx700 using Failover Mode 3(PAR). Other production AIX 5.3 hosts running PP 5.1 have standard Failover Mode set to 1(PNR)
Documentations states setting 3 can be used for AIX host "under very specific configuration parameters" having to do with non-disruptive upgrade on the CLARiiON.
Looking for more information on the "specific config parameters", and a recommendation on when to use this setting. Thanks!

I looked up the recommended Primus article, and found plenty about an NDU on a CLARiiON and what CAN happen with an attached AIX 5.3 host...thank you, good recommended reading.
I referenced EMC Host Connectivity Guide for IBM AIX P/N 300-000-608 Rev A16, page 289 and the page only had a reference to HACMP configuration, leading to VSD's and recoverablility.
Did you mean page 250? - AIX Host Prep? Here it states the minimum config parameters including Failover Mode 3
It also states the PowerPath versions 4.5.1 or higher support NDU on a CLARiiON, I'm using PowerPath version 5.1, so I believe I should be safe.
thanks again...
