PowerPath 5.1 upgrade

Hi

I did a PowerPath upgrade from ver 4.5 to ver 5.1 on Solaris 9.
The upgrade failed as the PowerPath 5.1 is unable to see the LUNS on the CX700.

May I know what are the possibilities tat cause the upgrade to fail.

have you run your configuration through E-Lab navigator just to make sure Solaris version, CX700 flare version and PP version are all supported ?

i typically run powermt save before i start any powerpath upgrades. That will create a file called powermt.custom. I save this file and then start the upgrade. If i encounter any discrepancies like you have ..i typically copy the file into its original location and run powermt config. Sometimes i have to reboot. In my experience that will keep devices intact ..names do not change.

have not.

According to the CE, Solaris LVM Metadevice was not working correctly after installing PowerPath 5.1

CE checked this issue and recognized the powerpath device number was changed.

The CE then downgrade PowerPath to the 4.5 and recovered powerpath device.

May I know what exactly is the problem here
