Problems getting Netware 6.5 to see a Clariion CX4-120 LUN

I'm having trouble getting a 4 node Netware 6.5 cluster to see 3 LUN's. 2 LUN's are fine, but the 3rd only presents it's LUN address (LUN 2), but the size is dispayed as 0kB, while this LUN 2 in fact is 1.6TB.

LUN 0, 200GB, owned by SPA
LUN 1, 1.6TB, owned by SPA
LUN 2, 1.6TB, owned by SPB

The 4 hosts are zoned to SPA as well as SPB, but only using 1 HBA, the other HBA is still connected to an MSA1500.

I do "see" all three LUN's and therefore I suspect there's nothing wrong with the zoning, but the weird thing is that this SPB-owned LUN is displayed as being a 0kB LUN.

The HBA is a 2Gb QLogic card and Powerpath 3.06 is installed.

Any tips ?

I was thinking the same thing.... I will try that tomorrow. I must say that I only did the Clariion part and a Netware specialist did the Netware part, so it never came to me that it might be a Powerpath issue. I think it's not even loaded :0

My guess is that Netware sees the LUN on the first path, but the Clariion doesn't tresspass it somehow. I don't know.... anyway: I'll call them tomorrow and have them tresspass the LUN to SPA and give it another try. I'll keep you updated.

The tresspass worked just fine.
But after we installed PPath, it worked fine, just like expected and tresspassing while copying data did not interrupt anything.

But now we're struggling to get the right parameters for the QLogic hba driver.

Hey RRR,

Have you had a look at this manual: EMC FC with QLogic HBA's in the Netware Environment http://filedownloads.qlogic.com/files/Driver/31989/QLogic_NetWare.pdf

As dynamox said, most of the settings are on the BIOS of the card, see page 16.

I used Primus case "emc139262" and it worked.
The Novell multipath setting had to be turned off. It seems that if it's on and PPath is running there are 2 captains on the ship....

It's solved !

No, the Primus case I mentioned a few lines below this one contains the Netware settings I needed.
