132T/Adaptec 29160 SCSI/Windows 2000 Server/Compaq ML 370/BackupExec 9.1 Backup Speed Issues

I've scoured this forum for tips to help increase my backup speed but I still have some questions, so please bear with me.
 
I'm getting very poor backup speeds (139 Megs/Minute). I'm backing up Windows and Mac servers to this carousel.
 
On the Backup server, for both the Medium Changer and Tape Drives, I'm running the latest Dell drivers.
 
I've seen " Slow Performance with Veritas Backup Exec on a Dell™ PowerVault™ 132T and Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or Windows Server™ 2003" but I can't find the Backup Exec drivers it recommends installing. The two Veritas downloads it has: v.bnt86idrv36_253800, A01 & Q114848.BEWS.91.4691_264342.zip appears outdated.
 
For the Adaptec 29160 I've updated it to the SCSI non-RAID: Adaptec 39160 SCSI - Family Manager Set, Driver, Windows 2000, Windows Powered, English, Multi System, v.6.1.6300.100 (FMS40SP6), A13, driver. The PowerVault is the only device attached to this card.
 
I'm running an Intel Gigabit Ethernet card with the latest drivers installed, attached to an HP Procurve 2824 Switch with all the latest updates.
 
I've shut down Symantec Antivirus with no increase in speed.
 
I would appreciate any suggestions.

You mentioned you updated your NIC driver. Are you backing up data from other servers using Backup Exec Agents (across your network), or just backing up local data from the server's own (scsi/raid) drives?

I am backing up 13 WIndows servers using the Remote Agent. for Windows Servers.

If you back up local (as in local on the scsi/raid drives on the server) data, do you get decent performance?

If so, we have at least eliminated the library/scsi controller from being the problem. If the issue exists on local backups as well however, then I'd suggest focussing on fixing that part and 'not worry' about the slow backup speed of networked servers for now (it's important, but if local backups are slow then you want to fix that before trying to see if networking plays a role).

It is very possible that 139/MB/min is all you'll get for network backup. Thats around what we get. Direct attach moves up to 1000/MB/min.
Do you have a service contract with Veritas? You might qualify for an upgrade to 10.
