51F's - 650's & 630's

We finally have - I believe - acquired all our storage needs built around Dell.  We are a small firm on a limited budget but with "HUGE" storage needs, and we have had to take our time with purchases, etc.

We now have 51F - new in box with software
2 650F's remanufactured
1 630F    remanufactured

If we need to "re-register" them with Dell, that is certainly possible as we have all the sales docs, etc.

Do we need additional software beyond that provided with the new 51F in order to operate this system?

Also: Where and how would we "re-register" all this equipment with dell.

Thanks - appreciate the input. I can locate the Service Tag.  But when it comes to "express service code," there's nothing.  Following the links throught the "re-registration," doesn't even provde an Express Service Code location for storage items - servers, yes, but nothing on storage.

thanks

You should have a cd for SAN 4.06. This contains all the neccesary software to use and manage your storage. This only supported up to win2k. The failover software ATF doesn't work with 2003 server. EMC moved to powerpath 3 for 2003.

There are various threads on this board relating to the 650/630f and most give pointers to the software.

The express service code is the decimal version of the service tag. Just convert base-36 (tag) to base-10 (code). Or I think if you put in your tag in the support site, it will give you the details on the equipment, and may also give you the express code. Usually one of the 2 will suffice, unless one of them is illegible or so.

Well, I thought I knew what the service tag was - but it keep reporting incorrect.

When I followed the links here to "locate service tag,"  there was no mention of the 650F, the 630F, or the 51F.  I didn't have much luck searching the entire site either.

Next, I called Dell for an attempt at assistance.  I was told "enter the service tag on line."  Explaining that I had already attempted that, seemed to go nowhere.  I said I would happily PURCHASE the manuals and software.  Then the fellow - Brad I think - said "that stuff is EOL anyway, and then just hung up."   The 51F was new in box (never opened) simply not purchased from Dell.

I can't believe that it is this diffiuclt to obtain a copy of San 4.06. softare and the manuals for the 650F and the 630F.  This just seems like fairly bizarre treatment.

Does anybody out there have any suggestions so that I might obtain the materials I'm seeking.

Thanks so much for at least reading.

I think the service tag may be on the inside of the chassis, remove disk 0 and the sticker should be stuck to the left wall.
