725n Crashes with Windows 2000 updates
Greetings,
I have a 725n that has worked well for the past few years. Recently I noticed that the server would frequently reboot (~15 times a day) with a 'no pool must succeed' error. I thought this was due to spyware or viruses but scans for both were clean.
I restored the drive to its default (Windows 2000 pre-SP) and it ran great. It seems like something in the updates to Windows 2000 is causing crashes and BSOD.
Its a catch-22: if I dont update Windows to the latest security patches I will get viruses and trojans over our lan. If I do update the server it continuously crashes and reboots.
Does anyone have any suggestions or know what the problem is with the latest updates from MS?

I would restore the os partition, restore from backup any data etc. Check the Dell support site for any tested upates. Then trust your firewall and antivirus software to do the rest.
It seems quite often an update will work for the server os but break a nas installation. Remember the NAS kit is classed as an embedded os install and doesn't have the full functionality of the full os. so update can often break it.
