Best practices for overheated server room ?

Cannot comment on how common it is, but to see if it's possible to have it happen automatically you'd have to provide a summary of what you have. This doesn't have to be in details, but something along the lines of:

- 1 FC-series Dell|EMC array with 1+ DAEs
- 2 CX-series Dell|EMC arrays with 1+ DAEs each
- 10 fibre connected hosts
- 5 non-fibre connected hosts
- 1 tape library
- 2 fibre switches

This is just an example, but for a setup like this the power down steps should be:
- power down all hosts (servers) properly
- power down the library
- power down the DPE/SPE (SPE would include a DAE-OS) using the SPSes
- power down the DAEs
- power down the fibre switches
- power down any other equipment (ethernet switches, etc)

What i mean is...they want to shut down all equipment via a main breaker.  "Click"

I've told them there will probably be data loss on the SAN, but htey seem to more concerned that the equipment is not damaged and say the data can be restored.

We used a E-mail alert when the temp reached a

critical level. E-mail to Cell phone. Then that person

B-lined and shut it down correctly. Happened twice.
