Dell EMC ML3 Tape library - Veeam humidity sensor error

Hi All,

I have a problem with brand new Dell EMC ML3 Tape library.

When i run copy to tape job, the veeam gives a warning that the humidity is high. How can i disable this warning or how can i disable the humidity sensor in the library?

Kind Regards

Hello  okoskacsa,

Can you let us know the OS and version on the server and server model?

Also what Veeam backup software and version are you on?

Does it happen on all cartridges?

Does this sound like what you are seeing:

A cartridge that is recently imported from a different environment is causing issues:

Media that is moved from one environment to another can cause issues until it acclimates to the new conditions. A cartridge must be acclimated for at least 24 hours before it is used, particularly if it was stored at a substantially different temperature or level of humidity than the device.

Hi @okoskacsa,

May I know if you're using LTO9 drive? Have you updated the drive firmware?

Hello @okoskacsa,

I have been checking the database for similar articles and I have seen some similar cases with Veaam Backup software.

All the cases needed log analysis and escalation. For this reason, and as the ML3 is brand new, I suggest you to open a case with phone support because they will require a log. For sure, you can explain them all the trobuleshooting steps so far and the answers you have already provided.

Regards.

Hello okoskacsa,

Maybe @AnaWilliam850 could help to disable the humidity sensor if you want?

So far I am unable to find a way to disable the sensor, and I'm not sure that you would want to do that on a brand-new system for the reason AnaWilliam850.  "This sensor is designed to detect high humidity levels in the library and warn you if the conditions could potentially damage the tapes or otherwise affect the performance of the library."

Were you able to contact Support that Diego recommended?

Hello,

We have the same enviroment (LTO9, veeam ..)and we also get humidity errors. We  have an Dell LTO8 library in the same server room, that work correctly without humidity errors.

We use the latest firmware.

Any suggestion?

Best regards,

Zoli

Hi @KZoli,

If you have updated the firmware of both the library and LTO9, the issue still persist, please check in the ML3's hardware logs that the alert is being record in the latest dates, after the firmware update?

You can find event information by viewing log files from the Library > Events screen
