Hardware compression on a PV 122T

I realize this is a very basic question, but how do you determine whether hardware compression has been set on this unit?  I've checked the manual and the menu on the unit, and I can't see where to set it anywhere.

I'm using CA's Brightstor Arcserv Backup (a new product to me), and that says it defers to the hardware setting. (It has an override switch, but doesn't say how to display the default setting).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Put a media in the drive. Right click on the tape device in the device view  to set compression.

I have searched the forums and only see this thread dealing with compression.  I want to find out how to either disable hardware compression on the pv-120t and the 122t or make it work correctly.  I have 2 backup servers that backup 50G and 55G.  Neither machine will put this on one tape. We receintly purchased all new tapes so i do not feel its a tape issue.  When enabling software compression i get an error when running the job letting me know it will be disabled due to hardware compression.

Would love to help but I have a few qustions for you first.

What are the drive types are in your autoloaders?

What operating system do you use?

What backup software are you using?

How much data are you able to get on one tape?

How would you set hardware compression to on if you were running, say, Syncsort Backup Express on linux ? Does the drive itself have any such parameter ? Or is it only controlled through software ?

Hardware compression will be set through the s/w. I'm not familiar with the S/W pkg you mention so I don't know how to turn it on or off via that app.

The default setting for the unit is comp on.
