HE: drive broken: needs repair Code: B0 B0 SCD: 2
Hi Team
We are receiving below error on our Dell PowerVault TL4000 tape library.
Here is the library details.
| Serial Number | X4U78M0280 |
| Service Tag | |
| Product ID | 3573-TL |
| Currently Installed Library Firmware | F.11 / 3.20e |
| Bootcode Firmware Revision | 0.82 |
| Barcode Reader | CSE600 |
| IPv4 Address | 10.224.14.8 |
| MAC Address | 000E11137A98 |
| Library Mode | Random |
| WWide Node Name | 2000000E11137A98 |
We have checked that there are no stuck tapes and power cycle the library ( power off and power on ) . The backups are failing stating that there are no controller available.
For now, I have made drive 2 as the controller and backups are working on a single drive.
Could you please suggest anything else we can try before concluding that the tape drive has hardware issue and we need to replace it.
This is what the drive log says
| 000:00:00:21.00x35 0x51 0x68 0x00 0x00
|
And this is what library logs state

Hello zaki1982,
Based on the errors that you posted you have 2 issues going on. First error that is in your picture is stating that the media that it was trying to pull out the slot it was not able to. When we see this error, it is best to take a sing tape & go through each slot to see if it sticks while trying to pull the media out manually. If you don’t have a sticking slot then you would want to check to make sure that the picker fingers are not lose, & that there is no lose media in your TL4000.
The second set of errors is more picker related. Now since you state that you are able to use the second drive to complete your backups I would say that your picker is working. Were you able to remove drive located in slot 1 to see if there was a tape in the drive?
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. We have replaced the tape drive and all looks good now.
Actually backup had stopped working even with just one drive being faulty. When I moved the controller to another working drive from library console, backups started working and medium changer started getting detected in OS.
We had verified the stuck / loose tape etc and all was looking fine.
