I'm considering purchasing 745n to increase file storage

A few questions:

Will my end users find accessing files directly from the 745N faster or slower than directly from the server?

How reliable/manageable is Windows Storage Server 2003?

Can I move SQL & Exchange databases onto the 745N?

Thanks for your help

You will find the PV 745 works equally well to that of a standard Windows server running on a PE 750 platform. The advantages to the 745 is more drive space, and a good web based management console as well as some UNIX interoperability features.

There is an option to move your Exchange 2003 storage groups to the Windows Storage Server. This is a Dell supported option, and is available for download from support.dell.com. There is a specific configuration required, (Private Gigabit network to the Exchange server). You can use the other NIC in the NAS for other file shares.

I'm not sure about moving SQL databases to the NAS, although it is possible, support is limited.
