Looking for 40GB disks for RD1000

Hello,

This is my first post in the forum. I am a long-time Dell customer who owns multiple Dell Servers, desktops, networking and storage gear. I recently purchased an external RD1000 with three 160GB (native) disk. This is being used to backup a file server (R300). Eben though my file server has about 120GB of files on it, only about 20GB need to be backed up on a regular basis. The rest are digital photos that can be backed up once a month or so.

I would love to set up a disk rotation scheme that has disks located in the RD1000 itself, an onsite fireproof cabinet, and offsite. I would likely need 5-7 disks to do this. The problem is that the 80GB disks that sell for $140 each are far too big for my needs. Spending another $700+ of disks is not in my IT budget this year. I was hoping to find the older 40GB disks for a much lower price. Does anyone know where I can pick some of these 40GB disks up for around $50-$60 each?

I hope this is an OK question to ask. I quickly checked the terms and did not see anything to indicate this post violates any rules.

On a related note, does anyone have a suggestion on a small fireproof container I could use to store the RD1000 disks?

Thanks!
