LTO5 on TL2000
simple question,
I have a TL2000 (ULT3580-HH4). Can I use LTO5 tapes on this? Should I update firmware in order to be able to use LTO5 tapes?

Hello FamousRuler,
In order to use LTO 5 tapes in your TL2000 you need to have an LTO 5 drive. with LTO you can read & write back one generation ( LTO4 can read & write to LTO3) & read only 2 generations back (LTO4 can read only LTO2). You can’t read or write to newer LTO tapes unless you have the newer drive that matches the newer media. Here is a link to the LTO media handbook & if you look on page 10 it shows which drives are compatible with which media. ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/Common/powervault-lto-110t_Reference%20Guide_en-us.pdf
