md3000i add physical disk to disk group
When one adds more physical disk to a disk group how long does it normal take for the process to complete? I would like to create another virtual disk within a disk group but need more space. Also how does it know what physical disk to use?

It doesn't allow you to select which drive(s) though.
I'd suggest to decide which drive or drives you want to add and remove the other drives or make them temporarily a hotspare or so to prevent them from being picked.
You could also look in the command line interface guide and probably exactly specify which drive(s) it's supposed to use using the smcli utility.
As for the time it takes; 24 to 48 hours is a good starting point. The time will depend on how large the disk group currently is, how many drives you are adding, and how much IO is going on when this is occurring.
