MD3000i setup only using SMcli
I've managed to piece together from all the various helpful guides how to setup a new MD3000i from a Debian server using SMcli. However the one bit I couldn't do was associate the iSCSI initiator with the host, the SMcli commands refused to recognise the full initiator name. In the end I had to use the GUI interface. I wondered if anyone else has been able to setup the whole system using only the command line, and could tell me how they got round this?.
cheers,
Richard

Unless you can figure out a way to install the RHEL or SLES RDAC MPIO driver on Debian, I wouldn't count on multipathing (loadbalancing and/or failover) to function. Obviously, if you don't need that functionality, that part is irrelevant.
As for registering the host, just connect the management ports to your LAN and install MDSM on a linux or Windows box. This makes your life a whole lot easier.

Hi,
No don't need multipathing.
Yes, I understand I can use MDSM, but I don't see what the point of SMcli is if you can't use if for something fairly major like setting up a iscsi connection.
cheers,
Richard
