MD3200 + R720 + H810
We have an R720 with both an internal H710P and add in H810 RAID adapters.
We have an MD3200 with two controllers.
We are running ESXi 5.5 on the R720; the sas-provider.vib has been loaded.
Obviously we want to connect both H710P and the H810 to the MD3200 to have redundant paths to storage.
I have the H810 cabled and configured; the MD3200 disks show up in VMware as attached to the SAS controller not the H810.
When I switch cables to the H710P and reconfigure; the MD3200 disks no longer show up. The MD3200 sees the host port interface is up, so there is connectivity.
SO: is there something I am missing to enable the HBA ports on the H710P? BIOS settings? the SAS controller? a VMware driver?

The H810 will never be able to connect to the MD3200. You'll have to replace it with a second SAS6E controller. The H710 (if you were to use a converter/bracket to go from the internal ports to external ports), will also not be able to connect to the MD3200.

Minor correction: after opening the box to confirm what is what, there are two add in cards: the H810 and the SAS controller. The SAS controller sees the MD3200 the H810 does not. The H710P has no external connectors.

We had a chat with the Dell Tech that configured our system. An oops moment. All good now.
