MD3200i Reset Management IP Address

I have one DELL MD3200i NAS was poweroff in few months. No one know the IP range and try to using default IP to discover but failed.

I follow this guide to try to using serial cable to reset management IP .

http://fixmyitsystem.com/2013/06/dell-powervault-md3200i-password-and.html

I connect cable to MD3200 controller 0 PS2 and PC COM1 , i using putty to connect it and press ctrl + pause/ break but no response.

Is it the cable problem? It is brand new cable...

Thanks.

It sounds like it's the cable or serial port. If you're doing this from a modern Dell PowerEdge server, try COM2 instead of COM1.

Replace the RAID Controller and using auto discover to discover the NAS is fine.

Thanks.

Hello johnhk215,

What you can also try to do is to try a hyperterminal connection to the primary controller & run the following command: netCfgShow.  This will give you the IP address of the controller.  The settings are 115200-8-none-1-none.

Once you get the IP you should be able to use MDSM and connect to the MD3200i and then you can see what both IP address are for both controllers if you have both controllers in your unit. Now to change the IP address of management ports need to go to the setup tab of MDSM.  Once in the setup tab then will need to select Manage a Storage Array. Now this will bring up a new window.  In that window you need to select the Physical tab.  Once in the Physical tab select one of the raid controllers by clicking on the image.  Once the raid controller is selected then will need to select Raid controller Module from the menu at the top of the window and then select change and you can change the IP address. When you change the management port IP the controller will need to reboot to make the changes take so it is best to do this when there is low IO just to prevent any issues.
