ME5024 and ReFS

Hi. Currently using an ME5024 with SAS connectivity to a Windows Server….configured with ReFS as a Veeam repo server. Freed up blocks of storage not being reported as available on the array as expected with no TRIM/UNMAP commands relayed by the OS to the array. However, I understand SDELETE or optimize-volume commands can be used to manually kick off the UNMAP process. What’s the support stance on this from Dell please?

Hello,

As I know rely to this article Trim and unmap and for space recovery | Dell PowerVault ME5 Series: Microsoft Hyper-V Best Practices | Dell Technologies Info Hub TRIM or UNMAP is supported only on Windows volumes formatted as NTFS. ReFS‑formatted volumes do not support TRIM or UNMAP, so freed-up storage on these volumes won’t be reclaimed by the array automatically.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the answer

So no automatic space reclamation but just a case of running SDELETE or optimize-volume to manually reclaim the capacity?
