ML3 Tape LDAP Configuration Guide

Capture3.PNGCapture4.PNG

Hi ... as per mentioned in the title, I need abit of help setting up the LDAP configurations for the ML3 tape library. I think I have got most of it right except maybe the Attribute Mapping section where i'm kinda lost as to what to fill and the format to fill it. I've tried quite a few formats to which returned the same error result seen above.

Thank you for confirming you are on the latest.

Check the online help guide. Should be a question mark icon in the GUI.

Check in this section Operating the library using the GUI > Access > LDAP Authentication detailed steps.

One call out check the Attribute Mapping section:  For most Windows Active Directory environments, the Username field under Attribute Mapping should bet set to sAMAccountName.

Hello JC-EVD,

I'll check into this. Could you tell me the ML3 firmware package you are on?

Thanks!

That question mark icon did help. Although I still get the 'No results returned' error when testing during the add server page, I am able to just save the configuration and add LDAP users.

Hello @JC-EVD,

I've trying to find documentation related to LDAP configuration for the ML3. However, there is not much documentation available for this which could help you setting up this configuration.

However, in another Dell systems which allow LDAP the same rules applies, such OpenManage Enterprise. I suggest you to check this documentation because as you will see, the basic rules are the same.

Here you have a guide about configuring LDAP on OpenManage Enterprise: https://dell.to/2RqqSOy

And also a guide for Unity: https://dell.to/3ppGz4X

Are you securing the LDAP communication using TLS?

I hope any of above guides may help you fill the gaps in the configuration. Please, let me know if they do.

Regards.

Hi,

Mentioned the same problem, is it that you are having the error message, failed to connect to LDAP server?

Or you need reference about the Attribute Mapping?

  1. Username: This typically maps to uid or sAMAccountName.
  2. Group Name: This usually maps to cn within a group object.
  3. Group Member: This often maps to member or memberOf.

Are you using Active Directory or OpenLDAP?
