Move vituals disks on a md3000i

Hello,

I've got a md3000i with two controlers and direct attached two windows 2003 servers.

I would like to know il there is a straight way to move data (virtual disks and entire disk group) from one server

to the other without copying the files.

Just detaching the disks from their origin and attaching them to there destination server.

Thank

As removing a disk from a server while it's up and running could cause issues, I'd recommend the following steps:

- shut down the server that'll be losing it's disk

- go into MDSM and select the modify tab

- look for the option to modify the disk mappings

- select the disk you want to give to the other server and then select which server you want to give it it

- now boot up the powered-down server

- on the other server you rescan in the device manager for new hardware. Once finished check disk management and the 'new' disk should be there with data and all. You might have to assign a drive letter.
