Moving MD3000 DAS to a VMware new server

Question

Hi

I am upgrading to a new server system. I would like to move my MD3000 box from an old Dell server to Fujitsu system that will have VMware installed. If I create storage VM and attach my MD3000 box to the new system will I be able to connect to my data ok? Any advice on the move would be appreciated.

This should be possible, but I'd highly recommend to use the Dell SAS controllers for the connectivity.

Also; be sure to stay with vSphere 4.1 as 5.x is not supported with the MD3000 (it may or may not work, but a full production environment should probably be a setup that is considered 'validated').

Thanks I might consider keeping the MD3000 on it's current server for now as it will be replaced soon by an Equallogic SAN and I was looking at vSphere 5.x.
