Not able to login to SCv2020

We are getting rid of an old SAN and server setup. We have a SCv2020 along with a SC120 SA and would like to shut them down properly but sadly I cannot reach the IP we had assigned to it. I have tried connecting the management port on the SCv2020 to our switch and a laptop on the same network but for some reason I cannot ping or access via Dell Storage Management Client. I've looked around and many are saying you can access via the serial port but requires a 3.5mm to serial cable. My main question is if we do a hard shutdown unplugging them, would this cause issues if we decided to donate to someone? Even if we donate it, we'd like to wipe whatever data is on there as well. I'm hoping doing a hard shutdown that it refreshes and can be reachable so them we can login and properly decommission. Let me know if there are any concerns with this.

Hello cpuchips47,

To decommission the enclosures you would need to perform a factory reset.

For a factory reset you would need a call into support so that we can capture the license & some other important data beforehand.

Support is the only ones who can reset the system as there are quite a few steps that have to be done correctly to ensure that all data is removed. So it would be my suggestion to call in to support. There may be community members that have tried this themselves and can share their experience.

These are two 3.5mm to DB9 cable part numbers if you need one:

Pn#4R3WX - ASSY,CBL,DB9/3.5MM,STEREO PLUG

Pn#5WD20 - ASSY,CBL,DB9/3.5MM,STEREO PLUG
