PowerVault 124T, BackupExec 11d, and eject

We want to eject our cleaning tape, but run into a "he said - she said" dilemma. If I try to eject from the PV124T panel, I get a messsage that it is locked, check the backup software. If I highlight the cleaning tape in the BackupExec screen, eject is either grayed out (disabled) or not even an option.

Worse, we don't get the web interface based on the IP address left to us by our predecessor (we didn't install this thing, it was here when we got here).

I guess I have two questions: 1) How can we eject the cleaning tape, and 2) how do we determine the correct IP, or get it to respond to our browser? (Yes, we have power cycled the PV124T hoping to get the web interface).

Thanks!

PS - Normal backup tapes also will not eject...

To eject - from the Backup Exec Devices section right click on the library and select unlock. Now you will be able to eject the cleaning media from the front panel of the 124T.

IP- from the front of the unit select Status/Ethernet then scroll to the IP section, this will list what the IP is. You can set it from the Configuration/Ethernet section

Should be able to find the manual online here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/stor-sys/124T/en/index.htm

Hope this helps...

Bob, thanks!

Coincidentally, when your posting arrived, I was pulling the tape from the drive. I found the manual you referenced (thanks!) and used the menu tree to discover the IP address. Then, I had to do some guessing to get the password to use the web interface. My predecessor left me a few guessing games...

Anyway, all's well now.
