Powervault 130T Internal Cables

Could you be more specific on which cables you are referring to?

The 130T drives are daisy chained externally.  There are connections to each driver that are connected internally (i.e. open the bay door and each drive has a mini connector as well as a power cable).

I viewed the 130T cabling and need to make sure I underdstand your request.

It sounds as if you need the tape drive daisy chain cables that get connected externally in the back of the unit.

I am not the parts person, however, as I look on a PV130T, a daisy chain cable has the following information:

DELL P/N 05984D   (this is aprroximately a 12 inch SCSI cable that is used to daisy chain the 130T drives).

When calling to order parts, please confirm that this is the correct part you need.

According to the guys I'm talking to it's a regular 68 pin SCSI cable with 3-4 SCSI connectors (male). They then add a terminator on the last drive to terminate the SCSI chain.

sorry to dig up this post from the past, but I am trying to find out similar information.

about how much does this 12" cable run. Also, There is another cable that runs up to the top right side of the device (as shown below) I assume this isn't the same part number, it appears to be longer then the 'daisy chain' cable (part #05984D).

Also, does dell carry these cables regularly? I did a search for that part number and couldn't find it anywhere on the net or on dells site.

Also, What SCSI card do you recommend using with this device? I read somewhere that it requires a high voltage scsi card.

You will need a Adaptec 2944 or 3944 adapter, which are HVD adapters.

You can connected a standard SCSI cable, (HVD) to connect the library (upper right hand corner of your picture) to the adapter.

The cables should be easy to obtain.

Let me have another moderator comment on the part numbers for the cable.

I have an Adaptech AHA-2940U2/U2W PCI SCSI Controller right now. Will this work with this device?

Also, if you can confirm those part numbers for the cables and give me a number to call to order these parts, that would be great.

Hi Brad,

The Adaptec 2940 SCSI controller will NOT work with the PowerVault 130T. The controller must be either an Adaptec 2944 or 3944 HVD SCSI controller.

The 12" cable to connect drive to drive is 5984D, the longer cable to connect the drive(s) to the library is 6984D.
