PowerVault 715N won't respond
I connect with supplied cable and hyperterm per the instructions. I see the thing boot up fine.
Then wait for about 5 minutes, (up to 1 hour)........
Attempt the supplied instructions for connecting via serial cable from windows networking.
nada 777 error everytime.
I have 100GB of storage on this thing that will put this company out of business if I can't bring this thing up.
the Main data is on the E: .... Can I restore without clobbering the E: according to the instructions, this thing will will reset everything if I use the system restore CD.....
I really need some help on this one ASAP. (BTW) is it possible to rig a video card up on this?

The drives of the 715 are configured in 2 mirror sets and a single RAID 5. The 2nd mirror set (the d drive), is the factory image. You could swap drive 2 and 3 with 0 and 1, and boot. Your RAID 5 set will remain in tact.

1. Only having a single serial ports lends itself to problems.....
In my case, my predecessor at this company installed the APC UPS software and it
took control of the COM1 which is why I couldn't connect on that port.
2. Is running windows in this way really safe? I could see linux as a headless server,
but not windows.....I think Dell should rethink this offering.... And my companies bad
for purchasing one....
Thanks

Dell did offer a better solution to the 715. The 725 is much improved, and the 745 is even better. As you already know, running Windows without a KVM possibility is not a very good idea. Doing so leaves the user with very to do if a problem arises.
