PowerVault MD3200i has error light

We have a Dell PowerVault MD3200i with an orange power light issue, but we are not sure why and there is no LCD screen to show what the problem is. All the power appears to be running correctly. Is there any way to find out what the error is?

Hello DASquarePeg,

What you will need to do is to check in MDSM (Modular Disk Storage Manger) and take at the MD3200i & if there are any errors it will tell you what the errors are.  The error light can be as simple as a virtual disk not on preferred path or it can be that something has failed in the system.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

MDSM indicates virtual disk not on preferred path. Since this is also supported by an external company, I have forwarded the problem to them! Thank you!

Hello DASquarePeg,

To redistribute virtual disks:

1.            Open Modular Disk Storage Manager (MDSM)

2.            Click on the Support tab

3.            Select Manage Raid Controller Modules

4.            Click on Redistribute Virtual Disks

•             You will get an alert telling you that this will disrupt communications if you do not have the multipath drivers installed. You can ignore this message and proceed. If you still have access to the virtual disk that is not on preferred path, you have multipath drivers installed

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

That solved the error. Thank you!

What if in the MDSM? It is blinking the amber light, but am not sure about the fault because I cannot check it.
