PowerVault MD3820i & Windows server 2019 issues after server reboot

I have two servers connected to a PowerVault MD3820i via ISCSI (1Gbit).
The first server is running Windows 2008 R2 while the second is running Windows Server 2019. They are virtual servers hosted on the same physical server, the technical configurations are identical (network, CPU, RAM).

Everything was working fine until now.
On April 2nd, I rebooted the servers following a maintenance on the physical server.

Since this reboot, my server under windows 2019 is not working well. The connection to the MD3820i is extremely slow, or even stops.
The server under Windows 2008R2 still works perfectly.

The MD3820i firmware is up to date.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks !

Do you happen to have a snapshot of the VM you can revert to? Without knowing more, it's hard to say why this VM is having trouble. You say it was rebooted for maintenance on the host, could you expand on that at all? Did the host have some updates run, or perhaps some other kind of configuration change? You might also review your VM configuration to see if anything, like Jumbo Frames for example, may have been disabled.

Hi,

We installed three new VMs on this Host:  Windows 2019, 2016 and 2012 R2
Only the VM under windows 2012 R2 works

We also tested with another Powervault, an MD3620i ==> same problem
On the other hand, our tests on Synology ISCSI racks works fine on Windows 2019

Maintenance on the host ==> It was "just" an windows update followed by a reboot

We checked the "Jumbo Packet" configuration ==> it's set to 1514 ==> should I extend it?

Thanks !

Hello @Thom3k,

What about the MD? Does it have any hardware errors? If you check the MDSM does it contain any error information? The VDs are splitted between both controllers?

And what about the host? Is it a PowerEdge server? Is the firmware of the server up to date? Did you check the iDRAC to see if there are any hardware errors?

Regards.

The Powervault Modular disk storage manager tools indicates no hardware errors on the MDs
==> State "Optimal"

The VDs are splitted between both controllers on the MD38xx
The MD36xx has only one controler. MD36xx firmware has been updated today, same problem

About the host :
PowerEdge R640, OpenManage Server Administrator tells us that everything is fine, no hardware errors.
Not all updates have been installed, is there a particular one to focus on?
==> note that virtual machines running Windows 2012 R2 on this same host work perfectly with both MDs

Doesn’t sound like it is a hardware problem then. Maybe something specific with those VMs.
