PV136T Cleaning required LCD indicator

Does anyone know how to enable the cleaning indicitor for drives on the LCD panel?

Currently our drive has the mailbox door set to storage and the only way we see indications that drives need a clean is if we open up the library completely and physically look at the drive. I was just looking through the PV136T user guide and it demonstrates that the LCD panel can show cleaning required for drives yet I have never seen this displayed.

If you look at the following picture

it shows the little indicator in the bottom left. Anyone know how to enable it because at the moment if the drive has the 'cleaning required' light blinking on it, the LCD display indicates nothing.

It comes enabled from the factory via the H/W. There is no user adjustment. Do any of the icons on the LCD work?

What is your drive technology? SDLT LTO

The cleaning light when illuminated on the drives does not flash. It is a steady light. You may have another problem with the drive other than cleaning.

Thanks for the reply. We are using LTO drives and the 'cleaning' light when on on the drive is solid and not flashing, sorry if I mislead with my previous post about it flashing. All the other indicators for drive status are working, except for the drive compression status which is currently disabled.

OK now I'm confused....;-)

I was thinking that the LTO drive in the 136T was an IBM drive not an HP drive so now that I am on the same page as you (hopefully)... I see that in the manual the Cleaning LED will flash until a cleaning cartridge in run through the drive....so given that information you say that your cleaning LED is illuminated "on" steady or "flashing"?

Heh...you and me both :smileyvery-happy:

The cleaning light definetly stays solid. I checked the back of the drive and it says is it is 'HP LTO LVD' drive. While the 136T documentation doesn't detailing the drives specifically, the 110T documentation does. I think the drives in our library are the same as what are detailed in the 110T LTO Tape Drive (Version 2) documentation.

Here is the online manual that does mention the HP LTO drive lights:

http://www.support.dell.com/support/edocs/stor%2Dsys/136TLTO2/en/preindex.htm

here is the section dealing with the LED's

http://www.support.dell.com/support/edocs/stor%2Dsys/136TLTO2/en/errors.htm#wp55136

may have to scroll down for the  LTO-1 LED Indicators section.

The HP drive in your library will be version 1 of the 110T LTO. Version 2 is the Seagate LTO drive.
