SAS Controller Card Connecting to MD3000
Hello. Will the Dell 0XM768 Perc 5E PCI-Express SAS RAID Controller Card work with an MD3000? I've got it connected (and believe that I see the HBA host port) but it won't see the drives. I've been reading that the PERC card won't work but this does state it's for SAS.

Hello eschuler,
With the MD3000 you need to use a SAS 5/e card. The PERC 5/e will not work due to it not understanding the raid configuration that the MD3000 controllers creates. That is why you can see the MD3000 but not see any drives. You need just a SAS HBA not a Raid controller card to connect to your MD3000.
Now if you had an MD1xxx system then you are correct in that you will need a PERC card as those systems don’t have Raid controllers in them.
