TL2000 - finally died?
I know it is a long shot, but I have to ask.
When I power up my TL2000 PowerVault, it powers on. However, the lights on the front don't quite light up. From left to right,
Power - not lit
Clean drive - dimly lit amber
Drive error - dimly lit amber
Error - dimly lit amber
The dimly lit ones may only be picking up light from something behind the, so I am not 100% they are on.
The display has the following on it:
Startup
Firmware Rev: 9t30
Drive: 2
I/O Station: 000344L4
The display never changes for matter how long I leave the unit on.
The robot arm goes through its initial motions, but the display is the same all the way through.
Has this unit finally given up the ghost once and for all? It is fairly old with a lot of miles on it.
Thanks for any help!

Hello DilbertW99,
Can you access the web utility of your TL as tapelibraryfixer stated? Want to make sure that you don’t have a bad LCD. IF you can are there any errors listed in the utility? Also you are running an old version of firmware on your system. Would need to know the errors first before trying to upgrade the firmware.
If it is scanning slots then & completes then I would say that the system seems to be working, but we would need to access the web utility to see what the status of your TL2000.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I am able to access the web interface of the drive. It is responding to commands from there. I was able to move a tape that was in the drive to the magazine slot, inventory the magazines, unlock and remove a magazine, etc. The whole time, the LED is still stuck on that same display, so it appears to be non-operational.
I have another TL2000 that had its robot arm stop functioning. Is it possible to replace just the LED with the other unit? I have not even opened the case yet which is why I am asking. If the answer is no, I will just go with this unit and use the web interface for now.
Thanks for all the great suggestions!

Hello DilbertW99,
When there is an LCD issue we normally replace the chassis when the unit still has a support contract on them. There is not anything wrong with using the system via the web utility. You could if you wanted to try to remove the LCD from your broken one & insert into this one & it should work without any issues.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.
I was able to remove the LED from the other TL2000 and install it in the working unit. It is working now.
However, one note for anybody reading this, there is something to keep in mind when putting the LED bezel back on the front:
Remove the top cover (yes, it is a pain)
Connect the ribbon cable and assemble the LED and bezel together
When placing the bezel, MAKE SURE THE PLASTIC GUIDE ARM is hooked to the bottom part of the LED bezel
The arm is held in place by the bezel. Otherwise, it will not work properly. It will report that the left magazine is incompatible and need to be replaced. In addition, DPM 2016 would not recognize the medium changer since the TL200 was not happy about the guide arm being locked down.
Reassemble the top cover making sure the plastic arm is still locked in the underside of the LED bezel.
The tape drive is back online, the LED is working, and DPM 2016 is showing the Drives and Library under Management / Library.
Thanks again for all the great suggestions!
