Does anyone know when the RMU stops responding issue on the TL2000/4000 is going to be fixed? It's only been broke for 6 months. When I reported the problem 6 months ago I was told newer firmware was being worked on to fix the issue. The A08 firmware came out and seemed to lessen the frequency of the issue but it didn't fix it. Not only did it not fix it but if we don't reboot the units when the RMU stops responding within a few days the whole changer will lock up making the device useless. Downgrading to a previous version doesn't help any either.
Tech Support has some beta firmware that fixes the security issue. I've been testing it in my lab but it's too early to tell if it fixes the lockups or not. You can probably call tech support and request the 8.62 beta.
I do monitoring of all my devices so I know when the RMU stops working. The changer itself seems to lock up a few days after the RMU stops responding. In the web interface you have the option of disabling the superuser and user account but in the latest firmware checking the disable box has no effect, If you change the passwords on those accounts to something strong it shouldn't be an issue but I noticed it a few seconds after upgrading. The new beta FW that was released fixes that issue. Support couldn't give me a time frame. They just said possibly in the next month.
what is the specific security issue and do you know of a potential release date?
I have seen this issue on both TL2000 & TL4000 models. Generally when the autoloader locks up you have to manually unplug the power since the power button doesn't work when frozen. Generally don't know the RMU is inaccessible until the autoloader locks up.

Contact Dell Tech support. They will be able to give you a f/w drop that should resolve this issue.
