UEFI-based HDD firmware update yields "EFI Invalid Parameter" on every disk
Hi,
I'm attempting to upgrade some disk firmware with the UEFI A13 nautilus utility (booted via USB) for some 2.5" SAS disks, and I am getting the following error on every disk.
My platform is an R720+MD1220+ PERC H800, all at the latest firmware (updated via ftp.dell.com about a month ago.)
Anyone have any experience with this? The disks are refurb from a reliable vendor, and all are exhibiting the exact same behavior so i highly doubt they're bad.

Hello Mtexter,
So based on the message that you posted that you are getting it looks like the error is coming from your HDD that are in your R720 server is that true? Also do any of the drive have a dell part# on them or can you provide the model# that is on some of the drives as your picture that you posted doesn’t have the full model#.

It would appear so, yes.
All disks in question have been Dell OEM disks. The part # hasn't mattered, I've tried several varieties of Dell branded drives in this same system with the same results.
Oddly, I've noticed that it does actually update the firmware, and after clicking "Yes" in the picture above for each disk, on a subsequent boot to this same program, it sees no required updates.
Sometimes the disks are able to be updated (prior to running this utility) on another Dell system using the DOS based updater, A49. This of course is not compatible with the 720 though as it only supports UEFI as far as I can tell.

Hello Mtexter,
Do you have any SSD drive in the server? If you do can I get you to go to the following location & tell me what the firmware the drives are running: Open Device manager -> open SSD -> click Properties -> choose hardware ID under Details.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

No SSDs present on or attached to this system :(
