updating Dell MD3400

Hello,

I have MD3400 and i need to apply all updates to the SAN. I have 2 node cluster the SAN is attached to the hosts over 12 GB SAS cables. Im looking for step-by-step guide if there is one available.  Below is my setup and what i think should be updated. Please correct me if im wrong.

- 2 node cluster (MS Server 2012 Hyper-V)

- 2 RAID controllers on SAN

- Disk FW upgrade

- MDSM installs from resource CD

- MPIO drivers on both hosts in cluster

Thank you in advance.

That’s right, you can skip that step if you don’t have those drives.

thanks, you've been very helpful.

So  just update RAID controllers and MPIO drivers? I have the instruction on how to do the RAID controller FW . But can i do this while in production? All i will need to do is transfer the role from RAID controller 0 to RAID controller 1 and update the RAID Controller 0 and follow same steps to do the 1?

Can you guide me to MPIO drivers thats installed on the hosts?

Much appreciated!

Yes, you can do that, but it is recommended to do it during a maintenance period where there is no I/O. MPIO drivers should be on the resource CD. https://dell.to/3tg90TX
