Adding Storage to a Precision 5820

Currently NewEgg has a Precision 5820 on sale:

I love the fact that it comes with 64GB's of RAM, but 256GB SSD is tiny.  If I buy this desktop, I would like to add either a 1TB or 2TB internal SSD.  Possible?  If yes, any specs that I should be looking for?

Hello,

the page on newegg is very limited about the actual configuration of that computer, sadly.

It could be setup in one of these 2 configurations :

Option 1 , the 4 flexbay in the front behind the plastic grill ( on the right ) are configured to accept 4 x 3.5" sata drives , and in one is installed a 2.5" sata ssd

Option 2 , 2 of the flexbays are configured for sata drives, and 2 are configured for NVME/U.2 drives , and in one of those a nvme ssd is installed.

Depending on the case, any currently sold ssd ( be it nvme or sata ) can be used. Note that if 2 flexbays are configured for nvme, usually only one has the adapter for an nvme , while the other bay accepts directly an u.2 ( or requires an adapter to then plug a nvme ).

Obviously is also possible to just use a pci-e adapter ( 1 , 2 , 4 nvme )

I don't think you should have any issues adding more/larger SSD into a 5820.

If it gives you hope, I have a lowly Dell 3620 into which I have crammed three Samsung nvme SSDs.  One is a 970 Evo 1TB as the main boot drive in the M2 slot directly in the mobo.  Plus a further two 980 1TBs on a single PCIe adapter card.

There is also a 2TB SATA HDD spinning away with room for one more SATA.
