Dual optical drives?
Hi,
I recently purchased a Precision 7920 workstation to use as a HTPC in my theater and media server on my home network. I was wondering if it's possible to connect two optical drives, i.e. slimline and 5.25. I see that there is a power cable for the optical bay with two ends, but only one SATA connection on the motherboard for ODD. I have the four rear drive bays populated with WD Red drives in a SATA array, and two front drive bays populated.
Thanks,
Alec

Precision 7920 Owner's Manual online
Precision 7920 Tech Guide.pdf
If a dual DVD drive unit is used as you describe, it will need a total of 2 data cables, 1 for each drive.
I don't know if you have enough SATA data ports on the motherboard available. If there isn't, there's SATA port PCIe cards.
Check the owner's manual just in case any special internal parts needed. It might not be a simple just slide in the dual DVD unit.
