I have a Dell Precision 3640 tower and have been doing some light gaming on it, as it has a pretty substantial dedicated GFX card in it.
I am running into some issues with my headset not being detected when I plug into the front jack. I have tried updating all the drivers, disabling devices/re-enabling them, and etc all to no avail. The issue persists and is definitely frustrating.
If the USB headset also cannot be used, it is generally considered that the sound card driver is abnormal. It is recommended to uninstall all audio inputs and outputs in the device manager and restart. After restarting, it will be automatically deployed. Then observe whether it recovers. Of course, you can also update the sound card driver to test
With headset connected > Right click speaker icon > Sound > Recording tab > Click or double-click on headset image > Another window opens > Listen tab > Check box for Listen to this device.
