Most of PCIe USB expansion cards are PCIe x1 and seldomly PCIe x4. Depending on your current PCIe slots usages, except for slot 2 being reserved for graphics (and covered slot 3), you can install USB expansion card to any of slot 1, slot 4, slot 5, or slot 6/7 (with second CPU). See the PCIe slot layout below.
